When visiting your hair stylist at MK Hairdressing Studio in Irvine for an updo or coloring, it’s perfectly normal to have your hair washed before the stylist gets deep into any hair styling process. Did you know that it’s not always necessary to wash your hair every single day? Chemical shampoos can strip your hair of essential natural oils and even weaken coloring. Not to mention, when you spend money on a beautiful style, you don’t want to simply wash it all away the next day. Thank goodness for dry shampoo. Here are some facts about this product that you might not know.
It Was Invented Decades Ago
While the concept of dry shampoo has been around for a long time, products can be traced back to the 1960s and earlier. It was first designed to help hospital patients who were not able to shower. Although many people see it as a relatively new invention, it’s actually been used for a long time.
There Are Two Different Types
Dry shampoo comes in powder form, but you can use it from an aerosol can or straight from a bottle. Although they come in different types, the concept is the same. The powder absorbs oil and pulls sebum from the hair to leave it feeling and looking cleaner.
It’s Normal for It to Be White
Because it’s in powder form, it’s normal for dry shampoo to be white however, some brands do make tinted dry shampoos for different hair colors. The white residue does go away as it is worked through the hair. Improper application can leave residue, however. For this reason, make sure aerosol cans are at least six inches away from the hair when applying. Refrain from placing it on the top layer of hair as well. Instead, lift the top layer and apply the dry shampoo at the roots.
